The Toltec-Maya pyramidal temple is a living calendar with four stairways, each with 91 steps (364) and a threshold to the upper sanctuary, making 365 steps: one for each day of the year. There is a writhing, shadowy serpent Equinox predictor, a pair of balusters on the Northern stairway with the only two serpent heads. More than 500 years ago, Mayan astronomers predicted the future transit of Venus across the face of the sun, as viewed from Earth, for 6 June 2012. Modern computers confirm the transit and give nod to the origins of the Mayan world 5126 years ago, in the darkness of 13 August 3114 BCE. El Castillo visually prepares all for life-giving rain brought with the winds of hurricanes.
